Custom Rotary Joint with Metal Bellows Mechanical Seal

Metal bellows seal construction designed around your medium and duty

Overview

Metal bellows mechanical seals solve rotary-joint duty where ordinary packing or elastomer seals cannot follow — aggressive media, elevated temperature, or clean service that must stay free of leakage and contamination. The bellows acts as both secondary seal and flexible element, compensating for shaft runout and thermal movement without the wear path of a conventional pusher seal. Ruitus builds each unit to the customer's medium, temperature, pressure and interface geometry, selecting bellows alloy, face materials and housing to suit the process. Typical duties include chemical service, pharmaceutical equipment and other nonstandard rotating interfaces; share your medium and operating data and we will engineer the seal arrangement around them.

Key Features

  • Metal bellows serves as secondary seal and flexible compensator
  • No pusher-sleeve wear path — suitable for clean and aggressive media
  • Compensates shaft runout and thermal movement
  • Bellows alloy, face materials and housing selected per process
  • Engineered around customer medium, temperature, pressure and interface

Typical Applications

Chemical service with aggressive or hazardous media
Pharmaceutical and clean-process equipment
Nonstandard rotating interfaces in process plants

Operating Conditions

Notes Nonstandard custom design — metal bellows mechanical seal rotary joint built per customer medium, temperature, pressure and interface geometry; operating data confirmed per project.

Frequently Asked Questions

1 What is a metal bellows mechanical seal rotary joint?
In this design the metal bellows act as the secondary seal and flexible element, replacing the push ring and spring stack of conventional seals. That removes a wear path and lets the seal follow shaft runout and thermal movement, extending service life on hot or cycling services.
2 When should I choose a metal bellows joint over a standard mechanical seal?
Choose metal bellows where shaft runout, thermal movement or media crystallization would shorten the life of a pusher-type seal — e.g. high temperature or cycling services. Send your media, temperature and shaft data and we confirm the fit within 24 hours.
