M-Series — Low-Speed Continuous Casting Rotary Unions

Embedded maintenance-free rotary unions for continuous casting machines — drop-in replacement for Z/K-series joints

Overview

The M-series is an embedded-type rotary joint built for continuous casting machines in the metallurgical industry — segment cooling circuits on slab and billet casters where the joint sits inside the machine and nobody wants to think about it again. It covers the same duty as Z-series and K-series low-speed continuous casting rotary unions and can be built to match their mounting dimensions for a drop-in swap.

The design philosophy is zero routine: oil-free bearing support removes the lubrication schedule, and a balanced sealing structure keeps the friction pair stable under the low-speed, constant-load duty of a caster. Rated 1.5 MPa / 100 °C at 100–200 rpm, media being coolant, hot or cold water.

Selection follows four parameters — medium, pressure, speed and embedded mounting dimensions. Send the machine drawing or the old joint nameplate and we confirm bore size and connections within 24 hours. Service life rides mainly on cooling-water quality: keep the strainer clean, and replace the friction pair proactively at each casting-maintenance outage rather than waiting for a leak.

A Vietnamese hydraulic-equipment manufacturer has outfitted multiple production lines with large volumes of Ruitus steel-plant joints in a single project. Standard spares ship in 3–15 days after order confirmation (MOQ 1 unit); custom builds to your mounting dimensions are scheduled per the quotation. Produced under ISO 9001:2015 and running in steel plants across 70+ countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

1 How do I select a rotary joint for a continuous casting machine?
Match four parameters: medium (coolant / hot or cold water), pressure (the M-series is rated 1.5 MPa), speed (low-speed duty, 100–200 rpm), and mounting (embedded type installed inside the casting machine). If your casting segment cooling circuits run at these conditions and you want zero lubrication routine, the maintenance-free M-series is the right fit — send us your machine drawing or the old joint nameplate and we will confirm the bore size and connection within 24 hours.
2 Do you supply Z-series or K-series low-speed continuous casting rotary unions?
Yes. The M-series is our low-speed continuous casting rotary union, covering the same duty as Z-series and K-series type joints found on slab and billet casters — embedded mounting, oil-free bearing support, balanced sealing, 1.5 MPa at 100–200 rpm. Units can be built to match the mounting dimensions of your existing Z-type or K-type joint, so replacement is a drop-in swap without re-piping the casting segment.
3 Does the M-series joint really need no maintenance?
The M-series uses oil-free bearing support and a balanced sealing structure, so there is no lubrication schedule and no periodic seal adjustment — install it inside the casting machine and it simply runs. Service life depends mainly on cooling-water quality: with clean recirculating water, the friction pair typically lasts through a full casting-maintenance cycle. Keep the strainer clean and replace the friction pair proactively at overhaul, not after a leak starts.
4 What cooling-water quality does the M-series need?
Clean recirculating cooling water is recommended — the friction pair is designed to last a full casting-maintenance cycle under these conditions. Keep the strainer clean and watch for scaling: if your plant runs poor-quality water, tell us at quotation and we will advise on filtration and proactive replacement intervals. Water quality is the single biggest lever on service life.
5 What are the lead time and support during a casting-maintenance outage?
Standard spares ship in 3–15 days after order confirmation, minimum order 1 unit; custom builds matched to your mounting dimensions are scheduled per the quotation. We recommend ordering friction-pair kits ahead of each planned outage — large-volume and outage-critical orders are prioritised in production, with the exact schedule confirmed in the quotation.
